چکیده

of action of an alkylating agent might be facilitated by the availability of an animal neoplasm that responds to treatment with the drug and of a subline of the same neoplasm that is resistant to the drug. Such a system should be useful in pinpointing the metabolic effect of the drug that is responsible for the death of the cells and also in determining why a resistant neoplasm no longer responds to the agent.

Studies with Mustards. v. in Vivo Fixation of C14 of Labeled Alkylating Agents by Bilaterally Grown Sensitive and Resistant Tumors.

obtaining information that might clarify the mechanism of action of alkylating agents and the mechanism of resistance to alkylating agents. The experiments were designed to take advantage of the test system consisting of cyclophosphamide'-sensitive and cyclophosphamide resistant plasmacytomas growing bilaterally in the same hamster (11). Such a system has the advantage of eliminating individual...

Cytotoxicity of alkylating agents towards sensitive and resistant strains of Escherichia coli in relation to extent and mode of alkylation of cellular macromolecules and repair of alkylation lesions in deoxyribonucleic acids.

1. A quantitative study was made of the relationship between survival of colony-forming ability in Escherichia coli strains B/r and B(s-1) and the extents of alkylation of cellular DNA, RNA and protein after treatment with mono- or di-functional sulphur mustards, methyl methanesulphonate or iodoacetamide. 2. The mustards and methyl methanesulphonate react with nucleic acids in the cells, in the...

Possible Role of Inhibition of Glutathione »S-Transferase in the Partial Reversal of Chlorambucil Resistance by Indomethacin in a Chinese Hamster Ovary Cell Line1

We have reported previously the isolation and characterization of a Chinese hamster ovary cell line, designated CHO-Chl1, which exhibits resistance to bifunctional nitrogen mustards while maintaining sensitivity to a range of other alkylating agents and chemotherapeutic drugs. This enhanced drug resistance is associated with a greater than 40-fold in crease in the level of expression of an alph...

Synthesis and study of effects of new 4-chloro – amodiaquine analogues against two resistant and sensitive forms to chloroquine Plasmodium Falciparum, in vitro

Background: Resistance to chloroquine (CQ) in Plasmodium falciparum malaria has become a major health concern of the developing countries. This resistance has prompted a re-examination of the pharmacology of alternative antimalarials that may be effective against resistant strains. Amodiaquine (AQ) is a 4-aminoquinoline antimalarial which is effective against many chloroquine-resistant strains o...
